Our science

Everything here was chosen for one stage of life

There is no separate science for women over forty. There is a body that changes on a fairly predictable schedule, and a supplement shelf that mostly ignores it. This page is the short version of how we decide what belongs on ours — and where to read the longer version.

How we choose

Three questions, asked in this order

Every product on this shelf had to answer all three. Most of what we looked at answered one, and one isn't enough.

  • Is it a real problem at this stage?

Collagen synthesis slows. The skin barrier holds less water than it used to, and the fall tends to steepen through the menopause transition. We're interested in what genuinely changes in your forties and fifties — not in what sells to everybody.

  • Can a supplement reach it?

Some things are a job for a cream, or for sleep, or for a doctor. What a capsule or a scoop can do is supply material to a layer your hands can't reach. That's narrow, and it's real, and it's the only thing we're claiming for any of this.

  • Will the dose be usable?

A number on a label isn't the same as a number your body can act on. This is the question most formulas never get asked, and answering it honestly is where the one real formula difference in our range came from.

The formula difference

Chosen for you is only half of it

Collagen isn't laid back down on its own. Your body rebuilds it, and the step that stabilises each new strand is enzymatic — the enzymes that run it cannot work without vitamin C. Most collagen powders pair vitamin E, or nothing at all.

Ours carries 100 mg of vitamin C alongside 100 mg of acerola cherry in every 10 g scoop, so the 4,500 mg of marine collagen peptide beside it is a dose your body can use. It is the one formula story in the range, and it's why the collagen is where we point most people first.

What you pair it with decides whether the dose counts.

Three pages, depending on what you want to know

This one is the overview. The detail lives in three places, and none of them needs the others read first.

Not sure where you'd start

Five questions, two minutes, and a straight answer about which of these is worth your money — including the answer where it isn't any of them yet.

Nothing on this page is a medical claim. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescribed medication, speak to your GP before adding a supplement.
